Many-Particle Models and Short-Pulse Amplification in Traveling Wave Tubes

Many-particle time domain methods are rising alternatives to particle-in-cell (PIC) or frequency simulate the wave–beam interactions in traveling wave tubes (TWTs). We focus on two of those: our Hamiltonian discrete model DIMOHA is compared analytically against pseudospectral method RUBEUS. Although based completely different approaches—the Gel’fand transform for and telegraphist circuit RUBEUS—we surprisingly find out that they share perfectly parallel sets equations variables. However, we conclude more flexible than RUBEUS terms pitch tapering absorbing boundary conditions. It also shows excellent stability steady-state simulation, allowing us explain some discrepancies with experimental results. These come from a standing pattern which detectable vicinity sever.
