Maritime inventory routing: recent trends and future directions

We review recent literature pertaining to the maritime inventory routing problem (MIRP), a stimulating, albeit niche, subclass of vendor-managed problems. MIRPs deal with optimally distributing products (typically heterogeneous) vessel fleet between production and consumption ports tracking limits. present two mixed-integer linear programming models for MIRP—one based on discrete time, other continuous time—and we discuss advantages disadvantages each modeling approaches. In surveying more than 50 papers spanning decade 2013–2023, investigate MIRP variants from many different applications how these have been modeled solved. Our purpose is provide comprehensive overview state-of-the-art research published in this period, collated along multiple dimensions. addition providing information about available test instances, highlight trends interesting avenues future research. As such, believe survey will be useful students, researchers, practitioners domain.
