Material aging effects on the in-plane lateral capacity of tuff stone masonry walls: a numerical investigation

چکیده
Abstract Recent studies have shown how the variability of material properties affects nonlinear behaviour unreinforced masonry (URM) walls. To preserve historical built heritage, variations in structural capacity URM buildings associated to aging and deterioration should be quickly predicted, by integrating with health monitoring risk management. In this study, relationships between features are numerically investigated for single walls, based on a modelling strategy that was experimentally validated full-scale The paper proposes an evaluation effects degradation macroscopic descriptors such as peak strength stiffness, also considering uncertainties estimate those properties. authors do not attempt model physical processes time, but assume certain levels investigate their response capacity. Force–displacement curves failure modes overall walls due progressive Regression models then proposed predict load-bearing -plane lateral stiffness when mechanical constituents changed.

Multi-Scale Analysis of In-plane Behaviour of Tuff Masonry
Various methodologies are available today in engineering professional practice to analyse structures, in particular in the field of masonry structures. Many of the methods are derived from reinforced concrete frames but sometimes they suffer of lack of comprehensive experimental validation due to difficulties to simulate the many different kinds of masonries and they suffer from lack of critica...
متن کاملthe effects of changing roughness on the flow structure in the bends
flow in natural river bends is a complex and turbulent phenomenon which affects the scour and sedimentations and causes an irregular bed topography on the bed. for the reason, the flow hydralics and the parameters which affect the flow to be studied and understand. in this study the effect of bed and wall roughness using the software fluent discussed in a sharp 90-degree flume bend with 40.3cm ...
Force Reduction Factor R for Shear Dominated Low-Rise Brick Masonry Structures
This paper presents investigation carried out, including experimental and numerical studies, on low-rise shear-dominated brick masonry structures for the calculation of force reduction factor R. Basic experimental tests were conducted on masonry constituent materials for mechancial characterization. In-plane quasi-static cyclic tests were conducted on twelve full scale brick masonry walls, to u...
متن کاملEnhancing Performance of Infill Masonry With Skin reinforcement Subjected To Cyclic Load
Masonry infill has been widely used as building material due to its cost effectiveness and availability. The failure of these masonry infill walls during the past earthquakes have underscored the importance of ensuring the safety of the infill walls when it is subjected to lateral loads. In-plane and out of plane failures have been observed in many reinforced concrete framed building with maso...
متن کاملcritical period effects in foreign language learning:the influence of maturational state on the acquisition of reading, writing, and grammar in english as a foreign language
since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...
