چکیده
The state-of-the art for solving the nonlinear material decomposition problem in spectral computed tomography is based on variational methods, but these are computationally slow and critically depend particular choice of regularization functional. Convolutional neural networks have been proposed addressing issues. However, learning algorithms require large amounts experimental data sets. We propose a deep strategy U-Net architecture Sim2Real transfer approach where knowledge that we learn from synthetic transferred to real-world scenario. Experimental comparison of empirical material decomposition methods for spectral CT.
Material composition can be estimated from spectral information acquired using photon counting x-ray detectors with pulse height analysis. Non-ideal effects in photon counting x-ray detectors such as charge-sharing, k-escape, and pulse-pileup distort the detected spectrum, which can cause material decomposition errors. This work compared the performance of two empirical decomposition methods: a...
متن کاملQuantitative material decomposition method for spectral CT imaging
Spectral CT is a promising new imaging modality that is able to provide spectral information of several pre-selected energy ranges in one image acquisition, which allows quantitative decomposition of multiple materials. In addition to conventional reconstruction, novel decomposition techniques should be developed to realize material separation. Decomposition of multienergy X-ray data into basis...
متن کاملPulmonary Bone Cement Embolism: CT Angiographic Evaluation with Material Decomposition Using Gemstone Spectral Imaging
We report a case of pulmonary bone cement embolism in a female who presented with dyspnea following multiple sessions of vertebroplasty. She underwent spectral CT pulmonary angiography and the diagnosis was made based on enhanced visualization of radiopaque cement material in the pulmonary arteries and a corresponding decrease in the parenchymal iodine content. Here, we describe the CT angiogra...
متن کاملSpectral diffusion: an algorithm for robust material decomposition of spectral CT data.
Clinical successes with dual energy CT, aggressive development of energy discriminating x-ray detectors, and novel, target-specific, nanoparticle contrast agents promise to establish spectral CT as a powerful functional imaging modality. Common to all of these applications is the need for a material decomposition algorithm which is robust in the presence of noise. Here, we develop such an algor...
