Measuring Constructive Journalism in Kompas.com’s Climate Change Articles

Climate change poses a significant threat globally. Due to the heavy nature of issue, climate news tends be very negative. Overly negative can cause psychological disruption and make people avoid news. The media plays huge role in mitigation, adaptation, people’s perspectives on change, making it crucial for them communicate effectively. Constructive journalism may solution this issue. With constructive journalism, journalists negativity bias by focusing not only negatives but also solutions positives when reporting story. This study conducted quantitative content analysis 123 articles reported Kompas.com 2020 using six elements journalism. research found that Kompas.com’s were constructive. emphasized consequences with minimal balance negativity.
