Measuring Foot Progression Angle during Walking Using Force-Plate Data
نویسندگان
چکیده
Foot progression angle (FPA) is a gait-related clinical measurement commonly used for assessing the rotational profile of lower extremity. This study examined accuracy two methods based on force-plate data estimating FPA during walking by comparing them with reference method using motion capture system. Ten healthy adults performed series overground trials at three different speeds: slow, preferred and fast. was estimated from center pressure—one previously reported in literature, novel proposed here. The each these were compared determined kinematic data. Results showed that more accurate precise when measuring speed conditions than literature. mean absolute error obtained this 3.3° ± 2.1° slow speed, 2.0° 1.2° fast no significant effect gait (p > 0.05). These findings suggest here valid determining various speeds. In absence data, constitutes an attractive alternative FPA.

Background: Determining an accurate clinical diagnosis for nonarthritic hip pain may be challenging, as symptoms related to femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) or hip instability can be difficult to elucidate with current testing methods. In addition, commonly utilized physical examination maneuvers are static and do not include a dynamic or weightbearing assessment to reproduce activity-related...
متن کاملThe effect of foot progression angle on knee joint compression force during walking.
It is unclear how rotations of the lower limb affect the knee joint compression forces during walking. Increases in the frontal plane knee moment have been reported when walking with internally rotated feet and a decrease when walking with externally rotated feet. The aim of this study was to investigate the knee joint compressive forces during walking with internal, external and normal foot ro...

The ankle plantar flexors were previously shown to support the body in single-leg stance to ensure its forward progression [J. Biomech. 34 (2001) 1387]. The uni- (SOL) and biarticular (GAS) plantar flexors accelerated the trunk and leg forward, respectively, with each opposing the effect of the other. Around mid-stance their net effect on the trunk and the leg was negligible, consistent with th...

15 صفحه اولEffect of Textured Foot Orthoses on the Ground Reaction Force Components in the Older Adults During Walking
Introduction: With aging, the pattern of walking is altered, and the person’s ability to walk will be decreased. Also, with the beginning of the aging process, the coordination of the postural control system was disturbed and lead to an unstable condition. A small biomechanical change in the lower limb is significant on postural control. The use of textured foot orthoses leads to improved effic...
