Measuring the accessibility of public green spaces in urban areas using web map services

The important ecological and recreational functions of public green spaces for metropolitan regions have been increasingly recognized, especially in the last few decades developing countries that experienced rapid urbanization at cost land. This study developed a accessibility index (GAI) quantifies efficiency accessing different levels spaces. GAI used improved estimation method by using web map services, which can acquire information such as optimized path choices corresponding time-cost trip modes. Taking Shanghai case, this measured mapped types spatial resolution 50 m. results illustrated Central Activities Zone had highest accessibility, whereas most rural areas beyond Inner Ring Road low except some parts dotted with several parks. Overall, decreased from city core to urban periphery within Outer Road. proposed an estimate space much finer scale high accuracy, due advantages data provided services. be effective tool planning spaces, adapted plan other service facilities.
