Mechanical and microstructural properties of AISI 4140 after flow-forming process

چکیده
Abstract. Flow-forming is a cold deformation process to form dimensionally precise and rotationally symmetrical parts. Strain hardening effect of the flow forming process, possibility producing cylindrical part are advantages especially for aerospace industry. The purpose this study investigate initial microstructure an AISI 4140 steel on mechanical properties after being formed by 70% as reduction ratio in thickness direction. In context, as-received was heat treated standard quenched tempered condition, additional annealing also performed. Before examined, hardness tensile tests were conducted. results revealed that beneficial obtain crack free material material.
