چکیده

The use of interleaving material with viscoelastic properties is one the most effective solutions to improve damping capacity carbon fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) laminates. Improving composite without threatening mechanical performance challenging and nanomaterials should lead target. In this paper, effect a nanostructured interlayer based on graphite nanoplatelets (GNPs) fracture toughness CFRP laminates has been investigated. High-content GNP/epoxy (70 wt/30 wt) coating was sprayed surface CF/epoxy prepregs at two different contents (10 40 g/m2) incorporated middle plane laminate. GNP areal weights behaviour Coupons low content showed 25% increase in trivial reduction storage modulus. Moreover, interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) (both mode I II) observed. alignment degree compaction reached during process were found be key parameters performances. By increasing compaction, mitigation drop achieved (−15%).

Modeling and Characterization of a Graphite Nanoplatelet/Epoxy Composite

A micromechanical modeling procedure is developed to predict the viscoelastic properties of a graphite nanoplatelet/epoxy composite as a function of volume fraction and nanoplatelet diameter. The predicted storage and loss moduli from the model are compared to measured values from the same material using Dynamical Mechanical Analysis, nanoindentation, and tensile tests. In most cases, the model...

Effect of Carbon Nanotube and Surfactant on Processing, Mechanical, Electrical and EMI-Shielding of Epoxy Composites

Dispersing nanoparticles in a polymer matrix is intrinsically challenging due to unfavorable entropic interactions between the matrix and the nanoparticle. In this research dispersion of nanoparticles in polymer matrix was studied and the effect of dispersion on properties was investigated. The properties of polymer composite depend on the type, size, shape, concentration of nanoparticles, and ...

Correlation between Mechanical Properties with Specific Wear Rate and the Coefficient of Friction of Graphite/Epoxy Composites

The correlation between the mechanical properties of Fillers/Epoxy composites and their tribological behavior was investigated. Tensile, hardness, wear, and friction tests were conducted for Neat Epoxy (NE), Graphite/Epoxy composites (GE), and Data Palm Fiber/Epoxy with or without Graphite composites (GFE and FE). The correlation was made between the tensile strength, the modulus of elasticity,...
