چکیده
State-of-the-art nanomechanical resonators are heralded as a central component for next-generation clocks, filters, resonant sensors and quantum technologies. To practically build these technologies will require monolithic integration of microchips, readout systems. While it is widely seen that mounting microchip substrates into system can greatly impact the performance high-Q resonators, systematic study has remained elusive, owing to variety physical processes factors influence dissipation. Here, we analytically analyze mechanism by which couple manufactured on them, experimentally demonstrate this coupling increase mechanical dissipation when resonance frequencies resonator substrate coincide. More generally, then show similar exist between two adjacent resonators. Since substrate-mode strongly depends both position substrate, work provides key design guidelines high-precision

Dissipation in ultrahigh quality factor SiN membrane resonators.
We study the mechanical properties of stoichiometric SiN resonators through a combination of spectroscopic and interferometric imaging techniques. At room temperature, we demonstrate ultrahigh quality factors of 5×107 and a f×Q product of 1×1014 Hz. To our knowledge, these correspond to the largest values yet reported for mesoscopic flexural resonators. Through a comprehensive study of the lim...
متن کاملPhonon-tunnelling dissipation in mechanical resonators
Microscale and nanoscale mechanical resonators have recently emerged as ubiquitous devices for use in advanced technological applications, for example, in mobile communications and inertial sensors, and as novel tools for fundamental scientific endeavours. Their performance is in many cases limited by the deleterious effects of mechanical damping. In this study, we report a significant advancem...
متن کاملThermo-Mechanical Coupling Mechanism in NEMS Resonators
An optically thin resonator suspended over a substrate and illuminated with a laser forms an interference field that couples deflection of the resonator to absorption within it. For high enough laser powers, such resonators have been shown to be interferometrically transduced to stable oscillations due to the feedback between heating and deflection. The coupling between thermal stresses, deflec...
متن کاملStiffeners Mechanical Effect Analysis by Numerical Coupling
Given any structure, we seek to find the solution of mechanical problem as precisely and efficiently as possible. Within this condition, the BEM is robust and promising development, standing out in the analysis of cases with occurrence of large stress gradients, as in problems of fracture mechanics. Moreover, in BEM the modeling of infinite means is performed naturally, without the use of appro...
متن کاملEntanglement between exciton and mechanical modes via dissipation-induced coupling
We analyze the entanglement between two matter modes in a hybrid quantum system consisting of a microcavity, a quantum well, and a mechanical oscillator. Although the exciton mode in the quantum well and the mechanical oscillator are initially uncoupled, their interaction through the microcavity field results in an indirect exciton-mode–mechanical-mode coupling. We show that this coupling is a ...
