Mechanical properties of cold-formed steel cladding profiles at elevated temperatures

Cold-formed steel (CFS) claddings are increasingly used in bushfire prone areas Australia due to their non-combustibility and recommended the Australian standard AS 3959 for design of buildings areas. Thus, good knowledge understanding behaviour at elevated temperatures is important safe buildings. However, temperature mechanical properties thin CFS cladding profiles have not been investigated. Hence, this research investigated high strength through steady-state tensile coupon tests. More than 100 coupons, taken from crests three different with thicknesses 0.42 mm 0.48 mm, were tested failure predetermined temperatures. The property results compared corresponding previous studies conducted on sheets sections, predictions obtained standard. These comparisons showed that currently available equations can be determine stress–strain curves except ultimate fracture strains. Since no suitable strains temperatures, new proposed varying thicknesses.
