چکیده
Melatonin is effective in modulating plant metabolism under stress conditions whereas nitrogen (N) essential for growth. To explore the effects of melatonin and N applications on early growth, associated physiological biochemical traits, cadmium (Cd) uptake maize Cd stress, a pot experiment was conducted. Two levels, i.e., 0 200 μM, two 1/4 full dose Kimura nutrient solution, were employed widely cultivated varieties, Yuecainuo 2 Yuebaitiannuo 7, (150 μM). Results showed that application improved biomass seedling especially low treatment which further activated antioxidant defense system terms superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD), catalase (CAT) while variably affected activities antioxidants stress. In addition, enzymes involved as well resulted higher concentration shoot root seedlings both varieties. Overall, short-term marginal decrease growth with accumulation, could accelerate improve absorption seedlings.

Physio-biochemical attributes in two cultivars of mulberry (Morus alba L.) under NaHCO3 stress
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the physiological and biochemical changes that occur in mulberry (cv. local and Sujanpuri) plants under alkaline conditions in order to understand the response of these cultivars to alkalinity. Mulberry plants were subjected to different treatments using NaHCO3 and after 20, 40 and 60 days, different physiological and biochemical parameters were studied...
متن کاملPhysio-biochemical and Enzymatic Responses of Sunflower to Drought Stress
Drought stress is a serious adverse factor that limits sunflower growth and productivity. The stress induces a range of physiological and biochemical responses in sunflower. So, evaluation of defense systems is important for producing resistant cultivars. In this study, physio-biochemical changes and antioxidant enzymes activitiesof six sunflower lines were evaluated under normal and irrigation...
متن کاملExogenous γ-aminobutyric Acid (GABA) Application Improved Early Growth, Net Photosynthesis, and Associated Physio-Biochemical Events in Maize
γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) is an endogenous signaling molecule and involved in growth regulations and plant development, however, a little information is available on the consequences of exogenous GABA application on growth, development, and associated physio-biochemical processes in maize. The present study examined the GABA-induced regulations in early growth, net photosynthetic rate, gas exc...
متن کاملYield and nitrogen leaching in maize field under different nitrogen rates and partial root drying irrigation
Irrigation water is limiting for crop production in arid and semi-arid areas. Furthermore, excess nitrogen (N) application is a source of groundwater contamination. Partial root drying irrigation (PRD) can be used as water saving technique and a controlling measure of groundwater N contamination. The objectives of this investigation were to evaluate the effect of ordinary furrow irrigation (OFI...
متن کاملEffects of melatonin on seedling growth, mineral nutrition, and nitrogen metabolism in cucumber under nitrate stress.
In China, excessive use of nitrogen fertilizers in glasshouses leads to nitrate accumulations in soil and plants, which then limits productivity. Melatonin, an evolutionarily highly conserved molecule, has a wide range of functions in plants. We analyzed the effects of melatonin pretreatment on the growth, mineral nutrition, and nitrogen metabolism in cucumber (Cucumis sativus L. "Jin You No. 1...
