Worldwide Pose Estimation Using 3D Point Clouds
We address the problem of determining where a photo was taken by estimating a full 6-DOF-plus-intrincs camera pose with respect to a large geo-registered 3D point cloud, bringing together research on image localization, landmark recognition, and 3D pose estimation. Our method scales to datasets with hundreds of thousands of images and tens of millions of 3D points through the use of two new tec...
متن کاملA Novel Point-based Pose Estimation Algorithm
Pose estimation and motion tracking from image sequences is useful in many robotic applications. We propose a real time algorithm which performs these two tasks using an iterative two-stage process: (1) depth prediction and (2) pose calculation. An analytical expression for determining the convergence is also obtained. The algorithm was tested successfully on synthetic and real image sequences.
متن کاملGrasp Pose Detection in Point Clouds
Recently, a number of grasp detection methods have been proposed that can be used to localize robotic grasp configurations directly from sensor data without estimating object pose. The underlying idea is to treat grasp perception analogously to object detection in computer vision. These methods take as input a noisy and partially occluded RGBD image or point cloud and produce as output pose est...
متن کاملRecovering Articulated Pose of 3d Point Clouds
We present an efficient optimization method to determine the 3D pose of a human from a point cloud. The well-known ICP algorithm is adapted to fit a generic articulated template to the 3D points. Each iteration jointly refines the parameters for rigid alignment, uniform scale as well as all joint angles. In experimental results we demonstrate the effectiveness of this computationally efficient ...
متن کامل6D Pose Estimation using an Improved Method based on Point Pair Features
The Point Pair Feature [4] has been one of the most successful 6D pose estimation method among model-based approaches as an efficient, integrated and compromise alternative to the traditional local and global pipelines. During the last years, several variations of the algorithm have been proposed. Among these extensions, the solution introduced by Hinterstoisser et al. [6] is a major contributi...
