چکیده
Concrete made with Portland cement is by far the most heavily used construction material in world today. Its success stems from fact that it relatively inexpensive yet highly versatile and functional widely available raw materials. However, many environments, concrete structures gradually deteriorate over time. Premature deterioration of a major problem worldwide. Moreover, production energy-intensive releases lot CO2; this compounded its ever-increasing demand, particularly developing countries. As such, there an urgent need to develop more durable concretes reduce their environmental impact improve sustainability. To avoid such problems, researchers are always searching for lightweight structural materials show high performance during both processing application. Among various candidates, Magnesia (MgO) seems be promising attain target. This paper presents comprehensive review characteristics developments MgO-based composites applications cementitious energy-efficient buildings. starts characterization MgO terms processes, calcination temperatures, reactivity, micro-physical properties. Relationships between different building designs were established. Then, influence incorporation on properties indoor quality was summarized. Finally, future research directions discussed.

General Design Assumptions for Engineered Cementitious Composites
The use of Engineered Cementitious Composites (ECC) for structural design requires a number of assumptions of the material, some of which can be drastically different from those suitable for normal concrete and tension-softening fiber reinforced concrete. This contribution focuses on design assumptions of the constitutive models of ECC in tension and compression. Specifically, while the tensile...
متن کاملDevelopment of Green Engineered Cementitious Composites for Sustainable Infrastructure Systems
Over the last decade, enormous strides have been made in creating engineered cementitious composites (ECC) with extreme tensile ductility, on the order of several hundred times that of normal concrete or fiber reinforced concrete (FRC). Current ECC investigations include load carrying structural members in new infrastructure systems, as well as for repair and retrofitting of existing structures...
متن کاملDesign of green engineered cementitious composites for pavement overlay applications
The construction, repair and rehabilitation of concrete pavements relies on the production and flow of large quantities of concrete and its constituents. Within the US, nearly 43 megatons of cement are used annually for the construction, repair and rehabilitation of concrete pavements, accounting for over 39 megatons of CO2 emissions. To reduce environmental impact and improve the sustainabilit...
متن کاملAN EFFICIENT METHOD FOR OPTIMUM PERFORMANCE-BASED SEISMIC DESIGN OF FUSED BUILDING STRUCTURES
A dual structural fused system consists of replaceable ductile elements (fuses) that sustain major seismic damage and leave the primary structure (PS) virtually undamaged. The seismic performance of a fused structural system is determined by the combined behavior of the individual PS and fuse components. In order to design a feasible and economic structural fuse concept, we need a procedure to ...
متن کاملBuilding Information Modeling (bim)-based Design of Energy Efficient Buildings
With the increased awareness of energy consumption as well as the environmental impact of building operations, architects, designers and planners are required to place more consideration on sustainability and energy performance of the building. To ensure most of those considerations are reflected in the building performance, critical design decisions should be made by key stakeholders early dur...
