Microporous Hyper-Crosslinked Polystyrenes and Nanocomposites with High Adsorption Properties: A Review
Hyper-crosslinked (HCL) polystyrenes show outstanding properties, such as high specific surface area and adsorption capability. Several researches have been recently focused on tailoring their performance for specific applications, such as gas adsorption and separation, energy storage, air and water purification processes, and catalysis. In this review, main strategies for the realization of HC...
متن کاملRevisiting molecular weight distribution of polystyrenes using adsorption high-performance thin-layer chromatography
A repeatable separation of polystyrenes according to MW, from 1920 to 520000 u.m.a, has been obtained under adsorption conditions using a method that comprises the use of Lichrospher HPTLC plates, and a controlled, isocratic elution with a 78:22 (v/v) mixture of cyclohexane (Cy)-tetrahydrofuran (THF). Likewise, UV-densitometric quantification of polystyrenes in mixtures can be achieved, by an i...
متن کاملFacile fabrication of novel highly microporous carbons with superior size-selective adsorption and supercapacitance properties.
A facile approach to fabricate novel highly microporous carbons has been developed by direct carbonization of lowly cross-linked polystyrene. The as-prepared highly microporous carbons demonstrate unusually high micropore rate (97%), high surface area (1108 m(2) g(-1)) and uniform pore size distribution, and thus exhibit excellent size-selective adsorption and electrochemical properties.
متن کاملAdsorption deformation of microporous composites.
We study here the behavior of flexible adsorbent materials, or soft porous crystals, when used in practical applications as nanostructured composites such as core-shell particles or mixed matrix membranes. Based on simple models and the well-established laws of elasticity, we demonstrate how the presence of a binder results in an attenuation of the adsorption-induced stress and deformation. In ...
متن کاملCellulose nanomaterials review: structure, properties and nanocomposites.
This critical review provides a processing-structure-property perspective on recent advances in cellulose nanoparticles and composites produced from them. It summarizes cellulose nanoparticles in terms of particle morphology, crystal structure, and properties. Also described are the self-assembly and rheological properties of cellulose nanoparticle suspensions. The methodology of composite proc...
