Thermoelastic Response of a Rotating Hollow Cylinder Based on Generalized Model with Higher Order Derivatives and Phase-Lags
Generalized thermoelastic models have been developed with the aim of eliminating the contradiction in the infinite velocity of heat propagation inherent in the classical dynamical coupled thermoelasticity theory. In these generalized models, the basic equations include thermal relaxation times and they are of hyperbolic type. Furthermore, Tzou established the dual-phase-lag heat conduction theo...
متن کاملA Phase Transformation Model for the Austenitisation of Martensite in Dual-Phase Steel
This work presents a unique approach for the modelling of the austenitisation of martensite in dual-phase steels within the phase-field method. Driving forces for nucleation and growth are derived from thermodynamic databases. Routines for nucleation are based on a discretisation of the classical nucleation theory. Validation is given via dilatometric experiments.
متن کاملGradient-based learning of higher-order features
We describe an auto-encoder with multiplicative connections whose hidden variables encode products of pixel intensities. The model allows for efficient learning of image transformations and of higher-order structure within an image-patch. Modelling higher-order structure can be an effective way to improve recognition performance, as shown recently with a similar, probabilistic model of image co...
متن کاملExtraction of Main and Secondary Roads in Vhr Images Using a Higher-order Phase Field Model
This paper addresses the issue of extracting main and secondary road networks in dense urban areas from very high resolution (VHR, ~0.61m) satellite images. The difficulty with secondary roads lies in the low discriminative power of the grey-level distributions of road regions and the background, and the greater effect of occlusions and other noise on narrower roads. To tackle this problem, we ...
متن کاملComputations of Flow over a Hump Model Using Higher Order Method with Turbulence Modeling
Turbulent separated flow over a two-dimensional hump is computed by solving the RANS equations with k-ω (SST) turbulence model for the baseline, steady suction and oscillatory blowing/suction flow control cases. The flow equations and the turbulent model equations are solved using a fifth-order accurate weighted essentially nonosillatory (WENO) scheme for space discretization and a third order,...
