چکیده

Due to the necessity of developing new materials with better anti-corrosive properties, bulk metallic glasses are focus many research projects. In this study, a glass Fe48Cr15Mo14C15B6Y2 composition was produced by high-pressure atomization spray and densified Spark Plasma Sintering. Different sintering cycles, temperatures, pressures were carried out conserve amorphous structure while increasing its density. The temperatures used for study below transition temperature, uniaxial force variated between 50 400 MPa. Amorphous samples nearly 98% relative density obtained. effect cycle on phase transformation microstructure studied. Additionally, porosity crystallinity related corrosion resistance properties through electrochemical characterization.

Spark Plasma Sintering: A Useful Technique to Develop Large-Sized Bulk Metallic Glasses

Metallic glasses exhibit unique combination of physical, chemical and mechanical properties due to their amorphous nature which lacks long range order and defects such as grain boundaries and dislocations [1,2]. In the past two decades, they have been rapidly developed for application in many fields. However, the disadvantages such as poor plasticity and limited dimensions hamper their large-sc...

Comparison of Creep Behavior in Alumina Based Ceramics Densified by Spark Plasma Sintering and Hot Pressing

Spark plasma sintering (SPS) method, as plasma activated sintering, is a method applicable for rapid sintering of metals and ceramics. Owing to the advantage of rapid heating, the alumina ceramics obtained by SPS have a grain size and density comparable to those of hot pressed ones. The increase of densification rate may be related to some difference in ion transport characteristics. This study...

Surface microstructure of Zr41.25Ti13.75Cu12.5Ni10.0Be22.5, a bulk metallic glass

The surface of Zr41.25Ti13.75Cu12.5Ni10.0Be22.5, a bulk metallic glass prepared by RF induction melting, has been imaged using atomic force microscopy. The untreated surfaces were very smooth; features were no higher than 3 nm over a 10 3 10 mm region, comparable to many polished surfaces. Two types of microstructure were also observed; periodic striations forming either a striped or a checkere...

Microstructure and Electrical Properties of AZO/Graphene Nanosheets Fabricated by Spark Plasma Sintering

In this study we report on the sintering behavior, microstructure and electrical properties of Al-doped ZnO ceramics containing 0-0.2 wt. % graphene sheets (AZO-GNSs) and processed using spark plasma sintering (SPS). Our results show that the addition of <0.25 wt. % GNSs enhances both the relative density and the electrical resistivity of AZO ceramics. In terms of the microstructure, the GNSs a...

Biomimetic apatite sintered at very low temperature by spark plasma sintering: physico-chemistry and microstructure aspects.

Nanocrystalline apatites analogous to bone mineral are very promising materials for the preparation of highly bioactive ceramics due to their unique intrinsic physico-chemical characteristics. Their surface reactivity is indeed linked to the presence of a metastable hydrated layer on the surface of the nanocrystals. Yet the sintering of such apatites by conventional techniques, at high temperat...
