Microstructure and Wear Resistance of Multi-Layer Ni-Based Alloy Cladding Coating on 316L SS under Different Laser Power

We prepared three kinds of Ni based alloy cladding coatings on 316L stainless steel at different power levels. The microstructure the layer was observed and analyzed by XRD, metallographic microscope, SEM. hardness measured, wear resistance it tested a friction instrument. results show that effect laser is good, has good metallurgical bonding with substrate. Different microstructures such as dendritic equiaxed grains can be in layer. With increase power, more columnar dendrites observed. phase composition mainly composed ?–Ni solid solution some intermetallic compounds Ni3B, Cr5B3, Ni17Si3. EDS there are differences distribution C Si between dendrites. about 600 HV0.2, which times substrate (~200 HV0.2). Through analysis morphology, serious, serious shedding, adhesive wear, abrasive wear. However, slight, grooves surface.
