Miniaturized Fully Passive Wireless Neural Recording With Heterogeneous Integration in Thin Packages

Wireless fully passive neural recording systems are demonstrated with heterogeneous integration of sensing, mixing, and communication components in flexible polymer dielectric films. The neurosensor has an antenna, antiparallel diode, a bypass capacitor to modulate incoming carrier signal the neuropotentials backscatter mixed external reader circuit. Planar antennas realized on liquid crystal (LCP) substrates low constant. designed antenna topology is single metal layer eliminates dependency substrate thickness, leads thinner sensors. This major advance compared prior rigid thicker components. Approximately, 80% thickness reduction 20% volume achieved similar performance when earlier studies. Our approach thus low-cost disposable wireless neurosensors platform integration. article advances innovative three aspects: 1)advanced packaging for miniaturized telemetry, through which overall size sensor reduced without degrading performance; 2) new topologies applications; 3) detailed power link analysis estimate minimum sensitivity.
