Spacelike Willmore surfaces in 4-dimensional Lorentzian space forms
Spacelike Willmore surfaces in 4-dimensional Lorentzian space forms, a topic in Lorentzian conformal geometry which parallels the theory of Willmore surfaces in S, are studied in this paper. We define two kinds of transforms for such a surface, which produce the so-called left/right polar surfaces and the adjoint surfaces. These new surfaces are again conformal Willmore surfaces. For them holds...
متن کاملBiharmonic Hypersurfaces in 4-dimensional Space Forms
We investigate proper biharmonic hypersurfaces with at most three distinct principal curvatures in space forms. We obtain the full classification of proper biharmonic hypersurfaces in 4-dimensional space forms.
متن کاملRicci curvature, minimal surfaces and sphere theorems
Using an analogue of Myers’ theorem for minimal surfaces and three dimensional topology, we prove the diameter sphere theorem for Ricci curvature in dimension three and a corresponding eigenvalue pinching theorem. This settles these two problems for closed manifolds with positive Ricci curvature since they are both false in dimensions greater than three. §
متن کاملLevi-flat Minimal Hypersurfaces in Two-dimensional Complex Space Forms
The purpose of this article is to classify the real hypersurfaces in complex space forms of dimension 2 that are both Levi-flat and minimal. The main results are as follows: When the curvature of the complex space form is nonzero, there is a 1-parameter family of such hypersurfaces. Specifically, for each one-parameter subgroup of the isometry group of the complex space form, there is an essent...
متن کاملSurfaces of constant curvature in 3-dimensional space forms
The study of surfaces immersed in a 3-dimensional ambient space plays a central role in the theory of submanifolds. In addition, Riemannian manifolds with constant sectional curvature can be considered as the most simple examples. Thus, one can think of surfaces with constant Gauss curvature in the Euclidean space R, hyperbolic space H or 3-sphere S as very natural objects of study. Through the...
