چکیده

Based on the recently proposed mirror-assisted multi-view digital image correlation (MV-DIC), we establish a cost-effective and easy-to-implement high-speed (MVHS-DIC) method explore its applications for dual-surface full-field dynamic deformation measurement. In contrast to general requirement of four expensive cameras field measurement, established MVHS-DIC halves cost by involving only two synchronized planar mirrors. The can dynamically measure front rear surfaces sheet sample simultaneously through reflection results are then transformed into same coordinate system, leading required 3D dynamical fields. effectiveness accuracy system validated modal tests cantilever aluminum sheet. vibration measurement drum transient smartphone in drop-collision process further prove practicability. Digital Image Correlation for High-Speed Flywheels

The objective of the present work is to evaluate the suitability of using 3D digital image correlation (DIC) for measuring strains on high-speed flywheels. A two-camera DIC setup was used to characterize the effect of image blur on de-correlation and to measure strains on the surface of three 32-cm diameter plastic disks rotating in air at low speeds (2,000 rpm). In one set of experiments, imag...

Investigation of optimal digital image correlation patterns for deformation measurement

Digital image correlation (DIC) relies on the visible surface features of a specimen to measure deformation. When the specimen itself has little to no visible features, a pattern is applied to the surface which deforms with the specimen and acts as artificial surface features. Since recent pattern application methods, e.g., micro-stamping [1] and lithography [2] allow for the application of hig...

Micro- and Nanoscale Deformation Measurement of Surface and Internal Planes via Digital Image Correlation

The digital image correlation (DIC) technique is successfully applied across multiple length scales through the generation of a suitable speckle pattern at each size scale. For microscale measurements, a random speckle pattern of paint is created with a fine point airbrush. Nanoscale displacement resolution is achieved with a speckle pattern formed by solution deposition of fluorescent silica n...

Creep Deformation Measurement of 316H Stainless Steel Multi-pass Welded Joints using Digital Image Correlation

A high temperature measurement system for creep deformation based on the digital image correlation (DIC) technique is described. The new system is applied to study the behaviour of a multi-pass welded joint in a high temperature tensile test and a load controlled creep test at 545°C. Spatially resolved tensile properties and time dependent creep deformation properties across a thick section typ...

Measurement of transient deformations using digital image correlation method and high-speed photography: application to dynamic fracture.

The digital image correlation method is extended to the study of transient deformations such as the one associated with a rapid growth of cracks in materials. A newly introduced rotating mirror type, multichannel digital high-speed camera is used in the investigation. Details of calibrating the imaging system are first described, and the methodology to estimate and correct inherent misalignment...
