Misidentification of Three Mullet Species Under Family Mugilidae Due to Differential Pigmentation Pattern

چکیده
The mullet species under the family Mugilidae, considered to be a commercially important teleost, are mostly found in coastal waters throughout world, distributed tropical, subtropical and temperate areas. In terms of taxonomic study, biogeography distribution pattern mullets remain unclear due difficulty separating based on morphological characters. Thus, there is need study taxonomy Mugilidae. Further, phylogeny Mugilidae also exceptionally obscure at inter intraspecific levels challenges exist family. present has brought new observation form temporary black dots (patrial pigmentation abnormality), especially three were observed. Sometimes these can lead misidentification or identification as different species. DNA Barcoding (COI gene) morpho-meristic analysis performed resolve ambiguity identification, confirmed Mugil cephalus, Planiliza sp., Osteomugil perusii. Present will help avoid species, which assist biologists managers for acquiring more information their life history pattern.

Hemlock poisoning due to plant misidentification
A case report (two patients) of accidental intoxication occurred in Northern Italy. Conium maculatum L. (poison hemlock) leaves were confused with and collected as Foeniculum vulgare Mill. Identification and microscopic examination of the cons...
متن کاملIdentification of a New Mullet Species Complex Based on an Integrative Molecular and Cytogenetic Investigation of Mugil hospes (Mugilidae: Mugiliformes)
Mullets are very common fishes included in the family Mugilidae, (Mugiliformes), which are characterized by both a remarkably uniform external morphology and internal anatomy. Recently, within this family, different species complexes were molecularly identified within Mugil, a genus which is characterized by lineages that sometimes show very different karyotypes. Here we report the results of c...
متن کاملThe Mugil curema species complex (Pisces, Mugilidae): a new karyotype for the Pacific white mullet mitochondrial lineage
Recent molecular phylogenetic analyses have shown that the Mugil curema Valenciennes, 1836 species complex includes M. incilis Hancock, 1830, M. thoburni (Jordan & Starks, 1896) and at least four "M. curema" mitochondrial lineages, considered as cryptic species. The cytogenetic data on some representatives of the species complex have shown a high cytogenetic diversity. This research reports the...
متن کاملSkeletal pigmentation due to tetracycline.
Two cases of pigmentation of the skeletal system due to tetracycline are reported. It is suggested that tetracycline may be stored in bone due to a tetracycline hydrochloride calcium phosphate complex after prolonged tetracycline administration, and that tetracycline may be the antibiotic of choice in certain cases of osteomyelitis. Dark pigmentation of the teeth may be due to prolonged tetracy...
متن کاملReproductive biology of the mullet Mugil liza (Teleostei: Mugilidae) in a tropical Brazilian bay
The reproductive biology of Mugil liza Valenciennes, 1836 is described as a contribution to an elaborate management programm. A total of 243 specimens (89 males and 154 females) were collected in the Sepetiba Bay in south-eastern Brazil from July/2006 to June/2007. The gonadosomatic index (IG) and the sequential development of the ovaries observed through histological studies suggested that the...
