Mixed depositional processes in coastal to shelf environments: towards acknowledging their complexity

The intricate development of coastal to shelf environments and their deposits is dominantly driven by the interplay river, wave tide hydrodynamic processes. These processes are, in turn, impacted several additional factors including aeolian processes, contour currents, seasonal ice cover, nature mechanical characteristics substrate, confinement physiography basin, climate oscillation relative sea-level fluctuations. Consequently, depositional record these mixed-process interactions complex challenging decipher. Because shallow-marine areas around world are densely populated subject intense increasing natural anthropogenic stresses, a better understanding systems will benefit sustainable protection development.
