Mixed reality environment for learning sensing technology applications in Construction: A usability study

Mixed reality is gradually becoming ubiquitous and significant in education owning to the inherent benefits of active participation tacit knowledge development a safe engaging environment. However, limited studies have explored design features that facilitate its use as pedagogical tool construction education, particularly equipping students with experiential skills are otherwise challenging obtain due resource constraints access sites. By evaluating eye tracking, usability questions, think-aloud protocol data verbal feedback, this study investigated mixed environment designed for engineering competencies deploying sensing technologies on projects. Results revealed such accuracy represented activities, quality animations, easy information resources important designing efficient learning environments. While suggested user interface was usable, tracking provided profundity encountered difficulties interface. Through concise outline sequential interface, scaffolding can improve task performance This adds value existing literature, particular by providing insights into affordances environments address technological gap between industry education. The contributes cognitive apprenticeship theory through game objects develop procedural addressing challenges technologies.
