Modeling Complex Seasonal Avian Migration: Predictions From the Thermal Environment and Resource Availability
نویسندگان
چکیده
Billions of birds undertake long-distance migration and the complexity schedules has only recently become clear. Such movements occur as a response to seasonality but ultimate drivers these changing distributions remain difficult study directly. Modeling seasonal based fundamentally on climate vegetation without parameterizing with empirical data, we focus potential role ambient temperature available resources in shaping migratory program. We simulate complete annual cycle over Afro-Palearctic region round-trip model allowing full variation extent timing movement, multiple stopovers. The resultant simulated tracks associated environmental metrics are interrogated: evaluate thermal resource consequences staying Europe versus crossing Sahara, secondly identify movement patterns optimizing exposure green local surpluses. There is distinct gain from Sahara pattern emerging optimal resembles contemporary routes regarding crossing, loop structure itinerancy. Thus, our first-principle simulations suggest that variations among species caused by complex trade-off between risks rewards moving, including innate physiological constraints high-risk crossing.

Integrated modeling and solving the resource allocation problem and task scheduling in the cloud computing environment
Cloud computing is considered to be a new service provider technology for users and businesses. However, the cloud environment is facing a number of challenges. Resource allocation in a way that is optimum for users and cloud providers is difficult because of lack of data sharing between them. On the other hand, job scheduling is a basic issue and at the same time a big challenge in reaching hi...
متن کاملA New Job Scheduling in Data Grid Environment Based on Data and Computational Resource Availability
Data Grid is an infrastructure that controls huge amount of data files, and provides intensive computational resources across geographically distributed collaboration. The heterogeneity and geographic dispersion of grid resources and applications place some complex problems such as job scheduling. Most existing scheduling algorithms in Grids only focus on one kind of Grid jobs which can be data...
متن کاملModeling Resource Availability in Dynamic Grid Computing
Peer-to-Peer network and desktop grids are currently the largest distribution systems for solving data and comput intensive problems. Despite the popularity, such largescale distributed systems are subject to churn, i.e., continuous arrival, leaving and failure of processes. Such environments define the provider characterization according to provider behavior on particular network systems. Typi...
متن کاملModeling seasonal migration of fall armyworm moths.
Fall armyworm, Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith), is a highly mobile insect pest of a wide range of host crops. However, this pest of tropical origin cannot survive extended periods of freezing temperature but must migrate northward each spring if it is to re-infest cropping areas in temperate regions. The northward limit of the winter-breeding region for North America extends to southern regi...
متن کاملImproving Seasonal Predictions of Climate Variability and Water Availability at the Catchment Scale
In a water-stressed region, such as the southwestern United States, it is essential to improve current seasonal hydroclimatic predictions. Typically, seasonal hydroclimatic predictions have been conditioned by standard climate indices, for example, Niño-3 and Pacific decadal oscillation (PDO). In this work, the statistically unique relationships between sea surface temperatures (SSTs) and parti...
