چکیده

Modeling fluid flow and transport processes in porous media is a relevant topic for wide range of applications. In water resources problems, this presents specific challenges related to the multiphysical processes, large time space scales, heterogeneity anisotropy natural media, complex mathematical models characterized by coupled nonlinear equations. This Special Issue aims at collecting papers presenting new developments field media. The 25 published deal with different aspects physical applications such as unsaturated saturated flow, fractured landslide, reactive transport, seawater intrusion, within hyporheic zones. Based on their objectives, we classified these into four categories: (i) improved numerical methods mass simulation, (ii) looking reliable parameters, (iii) laboratory scale experiments simulations, (iv) modeling simulations process understanding. Current trends are discussed conclusion.

Numerical Model for Saturated-Unsaturated Flow in Deformable Porous Media

An integrated finite difference algorithm is presented for numerically solving the governing equation of saturated-unsaturated flow in deformable porous media. In recognition that stability of the explicit equation is a local phenomenon a mixed explicit-implicit procedure is used for marching in the time domain. In this scheme the explicit changes in potential are first computed for all element...

Solute transport during cyclic flow in saturated porous media

We consider materials with large pores interconnected by thin long channels saturated with an incompressible fluid. In the absence of fluid flow, solute transport in the porous network is diffusion controlled, however, solute transport can be enhanced when the porous network is subjected to a cyclic flow with zero time average velocity. We develop a mathematical model to analyze this physical p...

Three-dimensional microscale flow simulation and colloid transport modeling in saturated soil porous media

Transport of sub-micron colloid particles in soil porous media has been mostly studied numerically with unit-cell-based grain-scale geometries. In this study, we develop a more general approach by combining a multiple-grain pore-scale flow simulation with Lagrangian tracking of individual colloids. First, two numerical methods are applied simultaneously to solve viscous flows in a channel parti...
