Modeling reacting multi-species flows with a detailed multi-fluid lattice Boltzmann scheme

Recent advances and findings reported in the literature show that lattice Boltzmann method can be a viable rather efficient alternative to classical numerical methods modeling multi-species flows. Based on kinetic theory of multicomponent gases, multi-fluid approaches are derived. Each species evolves according specific properties, proper coupling must introduced for diffusivity. In recent years, discrete scheme multi-component flows has been proposed which was able solve Maxwell-Stefan system equations any number species. However, reacting lead additional challenges have seldom studied by method. The aim present work is implement this model solver, extend it take account multiple chemical reactions. temperature modeled through separate distribution function flow assumed independent temperature. performance checked binary diffusion counter-current propane/air re-acting flow. obtained results deal with solves equations.
