Modelling interactions between waves and diffused interfaces

چکیده

When simulating multiphase compressible flows using the diffuse-interface methods, test cases presented in literature to validate modellings with regard interface problems are always textbook cases: interfaces sharp and simulations therefore easily converge exact solutions. In real problems, it is rather different because waves encounter moving which consequently have already undergone effects of numerical diffusion. Numerical solutions resulting from interactions diffused never been precisely investigated for good reasons, results obtained extremely dependent on model used. Precisely, well-posed models present similar important issues when such an interaction occurs, coming appearance a wave-trapping phenomenon. To circumvent those issues, we propose use thermodynamically-consistent pressure-disequilibrium finite, instead infinite, pressure-relaxation rate overcome difficulties inherent computation these interactions. Because original method solve this only enables infinite relaxation, new allowing as well finite relaxation rates. Solutions modeling examined compared literature, particular study shock water–air interface, but also helium–air tubes, spherical nonspherical bubble collapses.

States and sound: modelling interactions with musical user interfaces

Musical instruments and musical user interfaces provide rich input and feedback through mostly tangible interactions, resulting in complex behavior. However, publications of novel interfaces often lack the required detail due to the complexity or the focus on a specific part of the interfaces and absence of a specific template or structure to describe these interactions. Drawing on and synthesi...

Hierarchical Concepts for Improved Interfaces between Modelling, Simulation, and Visualization

Appropriate and eecient representations of domains, objects, and scenes are an important issue in the elds of geometric modelling , numerical simulation, and visualiza-tion. Though various techniques have been developed and are successfully used as single-purpose solutions, there is still some lack of comprehensive approaches that allow to base modelling, simulation, and visualization on the sa...

Interactions between Myrinet Network Interfaces and Host Architectures

This paper presents a series of experiments for evaluating the influence of the interaction between Network Interfaces (NIs) and host computer systems on the performance of a messaging system based on Myrinet. Major points of interest are the data transfer between user buffers and NI local memory and the synchronization between host systems and NIs. The paper provides a taxonomy of various tran...

Fluctuation-Induced Interactions between Rods on Membranes and Interfaces

We consider the interaction between two rods embedded in a fluctuating surface which is governed by either surface tension or rigidity. The modification of fluctuations by the rods leads to an attractive long-range interaction that falls off as 1/R4 with their separation. The orientational dependence of the resulting interaction is non-trivial and may lead to interesting patterns of rod-like ob...

Stability and interactions of nanocolloids at fluid interfaces: effects of capillary waves and line tensions

Abstract. We analyze the effective potential for nanoparticles trapped at a fluid interface within a simple model which incorporates surface and line tensions as well as a thermal average over interface fluctuations (capillary waves). For a single colloid, a reduced steepness of the potential well hindering movements out of the interface plane compared to rigid interface models is observed, and...
