Galaxy Evolution from the Deep2 Galaxy Redshift Survey
The DEEP2 Galaxy Redshift Survey is now well underway, having already measured the redshifts to ∼5600 galaxies in its first season of observations. Here I briefly review the survey itself, before discussing in more detail some of the initial science results to have recently appeared in the literature. In particular, the potential of the survey to characterize galaxy evolution is discussed, with...

متن کاملModelling Multiple Unemployment Spells from Longitudinal Survey Data
1. INTRODUCTION The modelling problem addressed in this paper has been called correlated failure-time modelling, multivariate survival modelling, multiple spells modelling, or a recurrent events problem, and is studied in biomedical Generally this type of modelling is required for data that arise in time-to-event studies when two or more events happen to the same subject. In such a case, the fa...
متن کاملThe 6dF Galaxy Survey
The 6dF Galaxy Survey (6dFGS) 1 is a spectroscopic survey of the entire southern sky with |b| > 10◦, based on the 2MASS near infrared galaxy catalog. It is conducted with the 6dF multi-fiber spectrograph attached to the 1.2-m UK Schmidt Telescope. The survey will produce redshifts for some 170,000 galaxies, and peculiar velocities for about 15,000 and is expected to be complete by June 2005.
متن کاملThe SAMI Galaxy Survey: early data release and first science
The Sydney–AAO Multi-object Integral field spectrograph (SAMI) Galaxy Survey is an ongoing project to obtain spatially resolved spectroscopic observations of ∼3400 galaxies by mid-2016. To date, a total of ∼1000 galaxies have been observed, making the SAMI Galaxy Survey the largest integral field survey in existence. In July 2014 the early data release for the SAMI galaxy Survey occurred, with ...
