چکیده
Abstract The DRASTIC method is one of the most widely used groundwater vulnerability assessment techniques. In areas where main useful aquifers are covered with an extra layer diverse sediments, a further modification required for more precise estimation. this article, was improved in characterized by Quaternary deposits remarkably influencing infiltration conditions. Three parameters were modified: (1) D-parameter adjusted to consider overlying that, some cases, make aquifer confined, (2) S-parameter replaced sediment-type parameter assess hydraulic characteristics highly variable deposits, and (3) I-parameter thickness describe distance from ground surface aquifer. original modified methodology applied area glacial sediments Central Estonia. Comparing results using former Estonian showed that significantly could, thus, be successfully other heterogenous sediment cover.

Aquifer Vulnerability Assessment for Sustainable Groundwater Management Using DRASTIC
Groundwater management and protection has been facilitated by computational modeling of aquifer vulnerability and monitoring aquifers using groundwater sampling. The DRASTIC (Depth to water, Recharge, Aquifer media, Soil media, Topography, Impact of vadose zone media, and hydraulic Conductivity) model, an overlay and index GIS model, has been used for groundwater quality assessment because it r...
متن کاملcomparison between logisticregression, modified drastic and ahp-drastic methods in groundwater vulnerability assessment
natural aquifer vulnerability can be defined as reaching pollution to groundwater and the possibility to propogate in it after land contamination. this is a relative specification, with no dimension and cannot be measured; which it is not only depended on aquifer specification but also on geological and hydrological characteristics of the aquifer of the region. varieties of methods have been de...
متن کاملQualitative Assessment of the Coastal Plain of Talesh using the Modified DRASTIC Vulnerability Method
Given the fact that the DRASTIC index is ineffective in addressing the saltwater uprising issue in coastal plains, in the present study, three factors including land use, distance to shoreline, and differences between groundwater and sea level were added to the DRASTIC index. The proposed modification to DRASTIC was validated using the measured electrical conductivity (EC) data gathered from gr...
متن کاملOptimization of DRASTIC method by artificial neural network, nitrate vulnerability index, and composite DRASTIC models to assess groundwater vulnerability for unconfined aquifer of Shiraz Plain, Iran
BACKGROUND Extensive human activities and unplanned land uses have put groundwater resources of Shiraz plain at a high risk of nitrate pollution, causing several environmental and human health issues. To address these issues, water resources managers utilize groundwater vulnerability assessment and determination of protection. This study aimed to prepare the vulnerability maps of Shiraz aquifer...
