Modulating the Immune Response in Periodontitis

نویسندگان

چکیده

Periodontitis is a chronic inflammatory condition initiated by the accumulation of bacterial biofilm. It highly prevalent and when left untreated can lead to tooth loss. The presence biofilm essential for initiation response but not sole initiator. Currently it unknown which mechanisms drive dysbiosis leading dysregulation response. Other players in this equation include environmental, systemic, genetic factors play role exacerbating Treatment periodontal disease consists removal with goal resolving response; however, does occur every case. Understanding way return state homeostasis has led investigators consider both systemic local pharmacological interventions. Nonetheless, better understanding impact that genetics environmental may have on could be key helping identify how inflammation modulated therefore stopping destruction periodontium. In article, we will explore current evidence associating microbial immune response, potential or pathways targeted modulation discuss advantages drawbacks associated management disease. This information valuable those interested adjunct methods managing diseases, limited to, dental professionals, clinical researchers public at large.

Modulating the innate immune response by combinatorial engineering of endotoxin.

Despite its highly inflammatory nature, LPS is a molecule with remarkable therapeutic potential. Lipid A is a glycolipid that serves as the hydrophobic anchor of LPS and constitutes a potent ligand of the Toll-like receptor (TLR)4/myeloid differentiation factor 2 receptor of the innate immune system. A less toxic mixture of monophosphorylated lipid A species (MPL) recently became the first new ...

Detection of Innate Immune Response Modulating Impurities in Therapeutic Proteins

Therapeutic proteins can contain multiple impurities, some of which are variants of the product, while others are derived from the cell substrate and the manufacturing process. Such impurities, even when present at trace levels, have the potential to activate innate immune cells in peripheral blood or embedded in tissues causing expression of cytokines and chemokines, increasing antigen uptake,...

Wnt/beta-catenin pathway: modulating anticancer immune response

Wnt/β-catenin signaling, a highly conserved pathway through evolution, regulates key cellular functions including proliferation, differentiation, migration, genetic stability, apoptosis, and stem cell renewal. The Wnt pathway mediates biological processes by a canonical or noncanonical pathway, depending on the involvement of β-catenin in signal transduction. β-catenin is a core component of th...

Induction of the immune response to periodontopathic bacteria and its role in the pathogenesis of periodontitis.

Periodontitis results from infection with subgingival plaque-forming bacteria followed by host immune responses. Recent data indicate that Porphyromonas gingivalis, Actinobacillus actinomycetemcornitans and Bacteroides forsythus initiate and progress periodontitis (1). Pgingivalisis mostly found in deep periodontal pockets and especially in active sites (111, 212, 239). A. actinomycetemcomitans...

The role of diet in modulating the immune response of broilers: the example of PUFAs

Identifying nutritional factors that modulate the immune response and influence an animal’s susceptibility to infectious diseases is currently an active area of investigation. The intercellular and intracellular communication pathways of leukocytes are influenced by dietary meal patterns, plane of nutrition, and high dietary levels of some nutrients. For example, the types and ratios of dietary...
