Molecule–molecule and atom–molecule collisions with ultracold RbCs molecules

چکیده

Understanding ultracold collisions involving molecules is of fundamental importance for current experiments, where inelastic typically limit the lifetime molecular ensembles in optical traps. Here we present a broad study optically trapped RbCs with one another, reactive Rb atoms, and nonreactive Cs atoms. For experiments alone, show that by modulating intensity trap, such spend 75% each modulation cycle dark, partially suppress collisional loss molecules. This evidence excitation molecule pairs mediated via sticky collisions. We find suppression less effective not prepared spin-stretched hyperfine ground state. may be due either to longer lifetimes complexes or laser-free decay pathways. atom-molecule mixtures, RbCs+Rb RbCs+Cs, demonstrate rate scales linearly density indicates that, both cases, rate-limited two-body processes. measure rates are below thermally averaged universal limit.

Ultracold collisions of oxygen molecules

Collision cross sections and rate constants between two ground-state oxygen molecules are investigated theoretically at translational energies below ;1 K and in zero magnetic field. We present calculations for elastic and spin-changing inelastic collision rates for different isotopic combinations of oxygen atoms as a prelude to understanding their collisional stability in ultracold magnetic tra...

Production of ultracold, polar RbCs* molecules via photoassociation.

We have produced ultracold, polar RbCs* molecules via photoassociation in a laser-cooled mixture of Rb and Cs atoms. Using a model of the RbCs* molecular interaction which reproduces the observed rovibrational structure, we infer decay rates in our experiments into deeply bound X(1)Sigma(+) ground-state RbCs vibrational levels as high as 5 x 10(5) s(-1) per level. Population in such deeply boun...

Inelastic collisions of ultracold polar molecules

The collisional stability of ultracold polar molecules in electrostatic traps is considered. Rate constants for collisions that drive molecules from weak-electric-field-seeking to strong-field-seeking states are estimated using a simple model that emphasizes long-range dipolar forces. The rate constants for collisional losses are found to vary substantially as a function of molecular parameters...

Collisions of ultracold 23Na87Rb molecules with controlled chemical reactivities

The collision of molecules at ultracold temperatures is of great importance to understand the chemical interactions at the quantum regime. Although much theoretical work has been devoted to this, experimental data are only sparsely available, mainly because of the difficulty in producing ground-state molecules at ultracold temperatures. We report here the creation of optically trapped samples o...

Deviation from universality in collisions of ultracold 6Li2 molecules.

Collisions of 6Li2 molecules with free 6Li atoms reveal a striking deviation from universal predictions based on long-range van der Waals interactions. Li2 closed-channel molecules are formed in the highest vibrational state near a narrow Feshbach resonance and decay via two-body collisions with Li2, Li, and Na. For Li2 + Li2 and Li2 + Na, the decay rates agree with the universal predictions of...
