Monitoring Changes in Land Use Land Cover and Ecosystem Service Values of Dynamic Saltwater and Freshwater Systems in Coastal Bangladesh by Geospatial Techniques

چکیده

Assessing and modeling the changes in land use cover (LULC) patterns associated ecosystem service values (ESV) has become an important global agenda for formulating sustainable management policies. Taking coastal region of Bangladesh (CRB) as a case study, we utilized remote sensing GIS techniques to analyze Landsat data 1999 2019 estimate effect LULC on ESVs. The classification, ESV quantification, spatial variations were performed by semi-automated per-unit value transfer, autocorrelation techniques, respectively. First, between 2019, altered dramatically (agricultural wetlands decreased, while all other types increased). Second, total decreased 1.87%, which was mostly attributed 70% growth both rural settlement aquaculture/saltpan, 30% decline agricultural wetlands. Third, significant correlation moderately high clustering observed, consisted mangrove forests, waterbodies, wetland zones. Both high-high low-low increased, but outliers remained unchanged. Conserving should be prioritized future plans CRB meet ever-increasing food demands, control natural conversion, make sustainable.

Monitoring and assessment of land use/land cover changes in Kashkan basin using futures studies approach in managing ecosystem services

Land use/cover change is one of the main factors in environmental changes. The changes directly affect the value of ecosystem services. The purpose of this research is to evaluate the effect of land use/land cover change in the Kashkan area on its ecosystem services. This research was carried out in three stages, including the analysis of land cover changes, prediction of changes, and carbon st...

Assessment of Terrain and Land Use/Land Cover Changes of Mine Sites using Geospatial Techniques in Plateau State, Nigeria

In this paper, we report a geospatial assessment of the selected mine sites in the Plateau State, Nigeria. The aim of this work is to determine the impact of mining on the terrain as well as the Land Use/Land Cover (LULC) of the host communities. The Shuttle Radar Topographic Mission (SRTM) is used for the terrain mapping. The derived impact of mining on LULC between 1975 and 2014 is determined...

Land use and land cover spatiotemporal dynamic pattern and predicting changes using integrated CA-Markov model

Analyzing the process of land use and cover changes during long periods of time and predicting the future changes is highly important and useful for the land use managers. In this study, the land use maps in the Ardabil plain in north-west part of Iran for four periods (1989, 1998, 2009 and 2013) are extracted and analyzed through remote sensing technique, using the land-sat satellite images. T...

Monitoring and Prediction of Land Use/Cover Changes in Shadegan International Wetland, Iran

Quantifying land use/land cover changes is essential to monitor and assess the ecological consequences of human disturbances. Ecological condition and water quality of wetlands are highly related to the landscape characteristics, including land use/land cover (LULC) types and their fractions in the upland and the surrounding landscape. The changing characteristics of LULC in Shadegan Internatio...

Land Use/Land Cover Change Modeling and the Prediction of Subsequent Changes in Ecosystem Service Values in a Coastal Area of China, the Su-Xi-Chang Region

Monitoring the impact of current Land Use/Land Cover (LULC) management practices on future Ecosystem Services (ESs) provisioning has been emphasized because of the effect of such practices on ecological sustainability. We sought to model and predict the impacts of future LULC changes on subsequent changes in Ecosystem Service Value (ESV) in fragile environments undergoing complex LULC changes, ...
