Monitoring the Process and Characterizing Symptoms of Suckling Mouse Inoculation Promote Isolating Viruses from Ticks

Objective: Suckling mouse inoculation is an important method that has been used for years to isolate viruses from ticks; however, this usually briefly described in the literature on a case-by-case basis upon successful isolation rather than providing extensive details. Methods: This study describes procedure preparation of tick homogenates identification virus using suckling method. The transient and persistent features were characterized incidence manifestations developed mice, especially mice which isolated, reported. Results: We identified 22 symptoms including 13 recovered by end observation period 7 suffered throughout period. Persistent (lateral positioning dead) (malaise, emaciation, difficulty turning over) main based high overall incidence. Moreover, we showed isolated had concentrated advanced days disease onset.
