Monocytic Myeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells in Chronic Infections
Heterogeneous populations of myeloid regulatory cells (MRC), including monocytes, macrophages, dendritic cells, and neutrophils, are found in cancer and infectious diseases. The inflammatory environment in solid tumors as well as infectious foci with persistent pathogens promotes the development and recruitment of MRC. These cells help to resolve inflammation and establish host immune homeostas...
متن کاملMyeloid-Derived Suppressor Cells in Bacterial Infections
Myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) comprise monocytic and granulocytic innate immune cells with the capability of suppressing T- and NK-cell responses. While the role of MDSCs has been studied in depth in malignant diseases, the understanding of their regulation and function in infectious disease conditions has just begun to evolve. Here we summarize and discuss the current view how MDSCs...
متن کاملMonocytic myeloid‐derived suppressor cells as prognostic factor in chronic myeloid leukaemia patients treated with dasatinib
Myeloid suppressor cells are a heterogeneous group of myeloid cells that are increased in patients with chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) inducing T cell tolerance. In this study, we found that therapy with tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) decreased the percentage of granulocytic MDSC, but only patients treated with dasatinib showed a significant reduction in the monocytic subset (M-MDSC). Moreov...
متن کاملMonocytic myeloid-derived suppressor cells in advanced melanoma patients
The percentage of circulating CD14+CD11b+HLA-DR-/low myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) inversely correlates with survival among advanced melanoma patients. High levels of MDSCs are associated with the absence of T lymphocytes specific for melanoma-derived antigens, implying a causal and clinically relevant interaction between these cell subsets. MDSCs might therefore represent prognostic...
متن کاملEffect of CpG ODN on monocytic myeloid derived suppressor cells
CpG oligonucleotides stimulate via TLR9 and enhance anti-tumor immunity, an effect attributed to the activation of NK and CD8(+) T cells. Our recent work demonstrates that CpG ODN also induce monocytic myeloid-derived suppressor cells to mature into M1 macrophages, further aiding tumor elimination. This provides insight into the mechanism through which CpG promote tumor regression.
