چکیده
Monte Carlo simulations are a crucial tool for the analysis and prediction of various background components in liquid xenon (LXe) detectors. With improving shielding new experiments, simulation external backgrounds, such as induced by gamma rays from detector materials, gets more computationally expensive. We introduce validate an accelerated technique photon transport The method simulates photon-induced interactions within defined geometry energy range with high statistics while outside region interest not simulated directly but taken into account means probability weights. For backgrounds exemplary we achieve three orders magnitude acceleration compared to standard current ton-scale LXe dark matter experiment.

Variance Reduction Techniques in Monte Carlo Methods
Monte Carlo methods are simulation algorithms to estimate a numerical quantity in a statistical model of a real system. These algorithms are executed by computer programs. Variance reduction techniques (VRT) are needed, even though computer speed has been increasing dramatically, ever since the introduction of computers. This increased computer power has stimulated simulation analysts to develo...
متن کاملPrecise Monte Carlo Simulation of Single-Photon Detectors
We demonstrate the importance and utility of Monte Carlo simulation of single-photon detectors. Devising an optimal simulation is strongly influenced by the particular application because of the complexity of modern, avalanche-diodebased single-photon detectors. Using a simple yet very demanding example of random number generation via detection of Poissonian photons exiting a beam splitter, we ...
متن کاملComparison of ScintSim1 and Geant4 Monte Carlo simulation codes for optical photon transport in thick segmented scintillator arrays
Introduction: Arrays of segmented scintillation crystals are useful in megavoltage x-ray imaging detectors for image-guided radiotherapy. Most previous theoretical studies on these detectors have modelled only ionizing-radiation transport. Scintillation light also affects detector performance. ScintSim1, our previously reported optical Monte Carlo code for such detector...
متن کاملVariance Reduction of Monte Carlo Simulation in Nuclear Engineering Field
The Monte Carlo method is a numerical technique that using random numbers and proba‐ bility to solve problems. It represents an attempt to model nature through direct simulation for any possible results, by substituting a range of values (a probability distribution) for any factor that has inherent uncertainty. The method is named after the city in the Monaco prin‐ cipality, because of roulette...
متن کاملMonte Carlo calculation of specific absorbed fractions: variance reduction techniques.
The purpose of the present work is to calculate specific absorbed fractions using variance reduction techniques and assess the effectiveness of these techniques in improving the efficiency (i.e. reducing the statistical uncertainties) of simulation results in cases where the distance between the source and the target organs is large and/or the target organ is small. The variance reduction techn...
