Attitudes, which can be thought of as the sum individuals' thoughts, feelings, and beliefs concerning an attitude object, inform how people interact with world around them. An understanding attitudes may play important role in promoting desirable human behavior, studies should incorporated into any behavior-change intervention. More than a feeling: When emotional reactions don't predict moral judgments
Many moral psychologists have proposed that the difference between people’s moral judgments about the Trolley and Footbridge dilemmas can be explained by their differing emotional responses to the dilemmas. In two experiments, we tested this explanation by presenting the dilemmas and measuring participants’ reactions using a self-report emotion measure (PANAS-X). As might be expected, participa...
متن کاملCan there be more predators than prey?
One of the few general “theorems” of ecology is the statement that in a given habitat there can be no more species present than the number of limiting resources. Our aim is to examine several of the versions of this “theorem” present in the literature, to compare them and to consider the underlying assumptions and definitions so as to decide to what ecological situations the theorem is applicab...

Do free will beliefs influence moral judgments? Answers to this question from theoretical and empirical perspectives are controversial. This study attempted to replicate past research and offer theoretical insights by analyzing World Values Survey data from residents of 46 countries (n = 65,111 persons). Corroborating experimental findings, free will beliefs predicted intolerance of unethical b...

RECENT FINDINGS Gut flora analyses have allowed gut microbiota signatures (GMS) to be observed in animal studies of obesity/metabolic disease. In these studies, specific GMS result in a change in obesi...
متن کاملAttitudes toward pharmacological cognitive enhancement—a review
A primary means for the augmentation of cognitive brain functions is "pharmacological cognitive enhancement" (PCE). The term usually refers to the off-label use of medical substances to improve mental performance in healthy individuals. With the final aim to advance the normative debate taking place on that topic, several empirical studies have been conducted to assess the attitudes toward PCE ...
