چکیده

Extensive fortnightly surveys were undertaken in major rice growing districts of Jammu division to study cultural and morphological variability amongst the isolates brown leaf spot disease causing fungus (Bipolaris oryzae). Based on severity 24 (BO1 BO24) divided into three groups (I, II III). Group ‘I’ comprised 11 with values between 51.22-67.44% categorized under highly virulent group ‘II’ 43.17-48.17% moderately isolates. ‘III’ included eight value 26.11-38.17% less On basis colony growth pattern, margin colour, 4 (A, B, C D). A six had entire margin, circular form, umbonate elevation smooth surface black fluffy growth. Eleven categorised B developed colonies undulated irregular grey greyish colour. surface. D contained four form; raised wrinkled surface, mycelium was which turned showed pigmentation. The largest conidial size recorded isolate BO1 (98.43-101×24.54-25.54 µm). conidia mean septa 4.5-7.4 straight curve shaped. sporulation different B. oryzae ranged 6.1-7.6×106 spores/ml.

Control of Bipolaris Oryzae the Causal Agent of Rice Brown Spot Disease Via Soil Streptomyces Sp. Isolate G

Bipolaris oryzae causes rice brown spot disease which reduces rice yield with substantial global impact. Streptomycetes isolated from rice fields of Guilan Province, Iran, showed antifungal activity against the tested pathogen. From five active Streptomyces spp. isolates, isolate G showed high antagonistic activity. To determine its taxonomical identity, its colonies character...

Control of brown spot pathogen of rice (Bipolaris oryzae) using some phenolic antioxidants

Bipolaris oryzae is the causal agent of rice brown spot disease and is responsible for significant economic losses. In order to control this disease, three phenolic antioxidants were tested (salicylic acid, benzoic acid and hydroquinone). The antifungal activity of the tested substances were investigated against B. oryzae at different concentrations in vitro, as well as the efficacy of their ex...

Confirming a major QTL and finding additional loci responsible for field resistance to brown spot (Bipolaris oryzae) in rice

Brown spot is a devastating rice disease. Quantitative resistance has been observed in local varieties (e.g., 'Tadukan'), but no economically useful resistant variety has been bred. Using quantitative trait locus (QTL) analysis of recombinant inbred lines (RILs) from 'Tadukan' (resistant) × 'Hinohikari' (susceptible), we previously found three QTLs (qBS2, qBS9, and qBS11) that conferred resista...
