Multi-criteria Decision-making in Carbon-Constrained Scenario for Sustainable Production Planning

Industrial processes are constantly changing owing to increasing demand and technological growth throughout the world. These changes influence environmental, economic, social pillars of sustainable development a large extent. So, production needs be carried via considering viewpoint which should include multi-criteria decision-making in planning. Including multiple criteria planning is significant as this inclusion lessens damaging effects on different development. Also, environmental policies usually framed such that carbon emission need not exceed certain limit. In paper, an optimal mix process routes determined while satisfying predefined maximum limit total obtain most satisfied solution (MSS) for conflicting criteria. This novel approach provides extension TOPSIS (Technique Order Performance by Similarity Ideal Solution) methodology, integrated TOPSIS-pinch analysis model proposed determine multi-criteria-prioritized factor ranking new carbon-constrained The obtained MSS unique maximizes benefit minimizes risk For Iron Steel industry, energy consumption observed reduced 74.05 × 106 GJ comparison plan given (Sinha Chaturvedi J Clean Product 171:312–321, 2018), method facilitates other objectives operating cost profit. methodology generic can applied allocation networks, example also discussed show its applicability water network synthesis.
