Multi-objective optimization for VM placement in homogeneous and heterogeneous cloud service provider data centers

We address the virtual machine placement problem that arises in Cloud Service Providers data centers. purpose, a Multi-Objective Integer Linear Programming model which aims at optimizing simultaneously number of hosted machines, resource wastage and active physical machines (PM) order to minimize power consumption. This new combination objectives enables maximize client satisfaction rate with minimizing center (DC) operational costs. modelize this multi-objective integer linear program solve it through two different methods. The first method computes unique solution for given preference over whereas second set non-dominated solutions. Both methods are compared extensive simulation scenarios. consider DC architectures: homogeneous DCs (i.e., PMs having same amount resources) heterogeneous DCs. study impact each configuration on performances show leads solutions reduction up 30% used outperforms one across all objectives.
