چکیده

Background Data: Various methods to help guidance of screw purchase in AIS have been described the literature. Free-hand technique is a relatively easy and as accurate other methods. MSCT scan, most method postoperative evaluation still needs more research. Purpose: The aim this study evaluate accuracy safety pedicle fixation (PSF) with free-hand using scan. Study Design: Prospective clinical case study. Patients Methods: In prospectively all patients underwent correction PSF were reported. All whole spine X-ray scan during follow up. Screw purchases evaluated according Gertzbein Robbin classification. Results: A total 45 recruited for mean age 14.7±1.7 including 39 females 6 males. Of 870 screws, 85.1% (740) screws within pedicle, while 14.9% (130) penetrated medial wall penetration (5.9%) lateral (9.0%). Overall, 18.3% thoracic 5.9% lumbar pedicle. Correlation age, sex, curve type, Cobb angle, spinal region showed no statistically significant correlation. Conclusions: data prospective suggest that adolescent idiopathic scoliosis population appears be an safe procedure. (2022ESJ263)

The rate of screw misplacement in segmental pedicle screw fixation in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE There are no reports in the literature on the influence of learning on the pedicle screw insertion. We studied the effect of learning on the rate of screw misplacement in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis treated with segmental pedicle screw fixation. METHOD We retrospectively evaluated low-dose spine computed tomography of 116 consecutive patients (aged 16 ...

Pedicle screw versus hybrid instrumentation in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis

BACKGROUND Incidence of complications and reoperations between pedicle screw (PS) and hybrid instrumentations (HI) are still controversial in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) patients. A systematic review and meta-analysis were performed to compare overall complications, reoperations, and radiographic outcomes between the 2 constructs. METHODS Strictly followed the PRISMA 2009 guidelines...

Accuracy of multilevel registration in image-guided pedicle screw insertion for adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.

STUDY DESIGN Retrospective clinical study. OBJECTIVE To assess the accuracy of multilevel registration for skip pedicle screw placement during image-guided, computer-assisted spine surgery, in the setting of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). SUMMARY OF BACKGROUND DATA Computerized frameless stereotactic image-guidance has been used recently to improve pedicle screw placement accurately...

Safety of Pedicle Screws in Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis Surgery

To review existing publications on the safety of pedicle screw insertions in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS). Despite having increased risk for neurological and visceral injuries, the use of pedicle screws have led to increased correction rates in scoliosis surgery. A review was performed on topics pertinent to pedicle screw insertion in AIS, which included pedicle morphometry in AIS, str...

Increased rod stiffness improves the degree of deformity correction by segmental pedicle screw fixation in adolescent idiopathic scoliosis

BACKGROUND There are limited reports in literature studying the impact of rod diameter and stiffness on the degree of deformity correction in patients with AIS. AIMS The aims of this study were to evaluate the 3-dimentional deformity correction achieved by segmental pedicle screw fixation in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, and to find out if learning or the change to stiffer ro...
