Multiobjective Design Optimization of Lightweight Gears

Lightweight gears have the potential to substantially contribute green economy demands. However, gear lightweighting is a challenging problem where various factors, such as definition of optimization and parameterization design space, must be handled achieve targets meet performance criteria. Recent advances in FE-based contact analysis demonstrated that using hybrid FE–analytical models can offer good compromise between computational costs predictive accuracy. This paper exploits these enabling methodologies fully automated process, efficiently reliably achieving an optimal lightweight design. The proposed methodology by prototyping software architecture combines commercial solutions ad hoc procedures. feasibility validity are assessed, considering multiobjective transmission consisting pair helical gears.
