Natural ecosystem heterogeneity diversity and functioning of nematode communities in a semi-desert ecosystem in Mexico

چکیده

The aim of the present study was to detect heterogeneity diversity in seasonal, site, tree species, and soil properties' effects on structural functional attributes nematode communities under smooth mesquite, Prosopis laevigata palo brea, Cericidium praecox within Biosphere Reserve Valle de Tehuacán-Cuicatlán. Soils biological crusts neighbouring exposed sites were surveyed during dry wet seasons 2018. Assessment effective (D) weighted by metabolic footprint (DMFP) calculated as they reflect taxonomic diversity. Trophic group abundances both indices showed marked seasonal variation. Soil water content bulk density only physicochemical variables that variation whereas density, total C N significant between sites. DMFP seemed have a better chance explaining relationship with than D shown PCA analyses. This places an index for measuring related ecosystem services therefore should be used tool integrity assessments at level support aid stewardship management policies.

Consumers Control Diversity and Functioning of a Natural Marine Ecosystem

BACKGROUND Our understanding of the functional consequences of changes in biodiversity has been hampered by several limitations of previous work, including limited attention to trophic interactions, a focus on species richness rather than evenness, and the use of artificially assembled communities. METHODOLOGY AND PRINCIPAL FINDINGS In this study, we manipulated the density of an herbivorous ...

Seasonal and spatial variation in nematode communities in a negev desert ecosystem.

Seasonal and spatial variation in soil nematode communities was investigated in a field study conducted on a loessial plain in the northern Negev Desert, Israel. Soil samples from 0- to 50-cm depths were collected seasonally during 2001 under the canopy of Atriplex halimus and Hammada scoparia, and between shrubs (control). Total population abundance ranged from 8 to 887 individuals per 100 g s...

Spatio-temporal Dynamic Heterogeneity of Nematode Abundance in a Desert Ecosystem.

The abundance and distribution of natural populations of soil organisms can be influenced greatly by the types and arrangement of habitat patchiness within a landscape. Most animal populations inhabit a variety of different habitats, even within a relatively small geographic region. The aim of our research was to determine how abiotic and biotic environmental factors, including small shrub cano...

Ecological Drivers of Ecosystem Diversity in Sahelian Rangeland of Niger

Description of vegetation patterns associated with environmental factors such as grazing, climate, landforms, substrate variables etc. are helpful for land management planning. This study used new synecological tools to investigate plants composition and to provide ecological descriptions of plants communities of communal pastures in Sahelian Ecological Zone of Niger. Vegetation and several env...
