Near-infrared light transillumination for occlusal caries detection in dog teeth: A comparative study

نویسندگان

چکیده

The aim of this study is to compare the effectiveness visual, radiologic, and near-infrared light transillumination caries detection methods on dog teeth in-vitro. A total 237 molar were evaluated with three different methods; visio-tactile examination a probe, radiographic assessment, NIR-LT. Each tooth was all absence or presence occlusal scored either 0, not present, 1, present. All yielded same outcomes for each tooth. Among positive Spearman’s rho value (ϱ=1) indicated that there strong correlation between methods. Since NIR-LT such comfortable easy diagnosis method, it can be used without sedation, especially in calm dogs.

Comparison of diagnostic methods for early interproximal caries detection with near-infrared light transillumination: an in vivo study

BACKGROUND Although numerous studies have used digital intraoral imaging, only a few studies have used photo-optical methods for the diagnosis of caries. Moreover, several limitations exist in terms of observers (experience and specialty) and the caries lesion itself. Hence, the aims of this study were to evaluate the diagnostic capability of near-infrared light transillumination (NILT) and PSP...

Caries detection and diagnostics with near-infrared light transillumination: clinical experiences.

OBJECTIVE The aim of this paper was to present the function and potential of diagnosing caries lesions using a recently introduced near-infrared (NIR) transillumination technique (DIAGNOcam, KaVo). METHOD AND MATERIALS The study included 130 adolescents and adults with complete permanent dentition (age > 12). All patients underwent visual examination and, if necessary, bitewing radiographs. P...

Clinical performance of fluorescence-based methods for detection of occlusal caries lesions in primary teeth.

We aimed to investigate the performance of fluorescence-based methods (FBMs), compared to visual inspection after histological validation, in detecting and assessing the activity status of occlusal carious lesions in primary teeth. One examiner evaluated 50 primary molars close to exfoliation in 24 children. Teeth were assessed using quantitative light-induced fluorescence (QLF) and pen-type la...

Multispectral near-IR reflectance and transillumination imaging of teeth

NIR imaging methods do not require ionizing radiation and have great potential for detecting caries lesions (tooth decay) on high-risk proximal and occlusal tooth surfaces and at the earliest stages of development. Previous in vitro and in vivo studies at 1300-nm demonstrated that high contrast reflectance and transillumination images could be acquired of caries lesions on tooth proximal and oc...
