SIERRA/Premo-A New General Purpose Compressible Flow Simulation Code
This paper reports on the progress of a new compressible flow simulation code being developed at Sandia National Laboratories. The code called Premo is a CFD module that is part of a much larger multimechanics code framework called SIERRA. The goal of the Premo project is to deliver a general purpose CFD capability for designers and analysts of aerodynamics of flight vehicles. SIERRA provides u...
متن کاملParallelization of a Modern CFD Incompressible Turbulent Flow Code
Introduction At this point in the beginning of the 21 Century there are already numerous reliable, inexpensive and widely-used commercial CFD codes. Fluent, STAR-CD and Flow3D are representative examples. In light of this, one might question the need for developing yet another incompressible flow code. But it is important to recognize that in many of the most successful commercial codes the und...
متن کاملTwo-dimensional Incompressible Viscous Flow around a Small Obstacle
In this work we study the asymptotic behavior of viscous incompressible 2D flow in the exterior of a small material obstacle. We fix the initial vorticity ω0 and the circulation γ of the initial flow around the obstacle. We prove that, if γ is sufficiently small, the limit flow satisfies the full-plane Navier-Stokes system, with initial vorticity ω0 + γδ, where δ is the standard Dirac measure. ...
متن کاملCompressible Gas Flow Inside a Two-Dimensional Uniform Microchannel
This paper analyzes a compressible gas flow through a microchannel, and reports a complete set of first-order analytical solutions. Thiswork represents an extension of the previouswork ofArkilic on compressibleflows through amicrochannel. First, by comparing themagnitudes of different forces in the compressible gasflow, weobtain proper estimations for the Reynolds and Mach numbers at the channel...
متن کاملTwo dimensional incompressible ideal flow around a small obstacle
In this article we study the asymptotic behavior of incompressible, ideal, timedependent two dimensional flow in the exterior of a single smooth obstacle when the size of the obstacle becomes very small. Our main purpose is to identify the equation satisfied by the limit flow. We will see that the asymptotic behavior depends on γ, the circulation around the obstacle. For smooth flow around a si...
