چکیده

Objectives: To assess the neurological improvement after decompression for dorsal spine tuberculosis in terms of Frankel grading.
Materials and Method: Prospective study was done Neurosurgery department, Prime Teaching Hospital Peshawar from 2018 to 2021. Patients both genders aged between 18 60 years were selected while those unfit surgery or requiring conservative management excluded study. After clinical examination radiological findings, patients diagnosed with surgery. All followed 3 months post-operatively. Neurological measured by comparing pre post-op grading. Complications also documented.
 Results: Out 38 included study, 16 (42%) male 22 (58%) female. The mean age presentation 34 ± 5. distribution groups – 30 (08), 31 40 (13), 41 50 (11), 51 (06). Extrapleural anterolateral decompression in tuberculosis of the dorsal spine.

We reviewed 64 anterolateral decompressions performed on 63 patients with tuberculosis of the dorsal spine (D1 to L1). The mean age of the patients was 35 years (9 to 73) with no gender preponderance. All patients had severe paraplegia (two cases grade III, 61 cases grade IV). The mean number of vertebral bodies affected was 2.6; the mean pre-treatment kyphosis was 24.8 degrees (7 to 84). An av...

C5 palsy after cervical spine decompression surgery.

Degenerative cervical spondylosis and cervical compression myelopathy are common causes of morbidity in middle-aged and elderly individuals. Clinical presentations include progressive spastic quadriparesis, sensory loss at or below the neck, and urinary incontinence. Although nonoperative treatment is acceptable in mild nonprogressive myelopathy, surgical decompression or stabilization is indic...

Neurological deterioration after posterior wiring of the cervical spine.

Posterior cervical wiring is commonly performed for patients with spinal instability, but has inherent risks. We report eight patients who had neurological deterioration after sublaminar or spinous process wiring of the cervical spine; four had complete injuries of the spinal cord, one had residual leg spasticity and three recovered after transient injuries. We found no relation between the deg...

Pulmonary impairment after tuberculosis and its contribution to TB burden

BACKGROUND The health impacts of pulmonary impairment after tuberculosis (TB) treatment have not been included in assessments of TB burden. Therefore, previous global and national TB burden estimates do not reflect the full consequences of surviving TB. We assessed the burden of TB including pulmonary impairment after tuberculosis in Tarrant County, Texas using Disability-adjusted Life Years (D...
