چکیده

This study aimed to answer the questions ‘What are neural networks and mechanisms involved in visual kinesthetic motor imagery?’, ‘Is part of cognitive processing included during imagery?’ by investigating neurophysiological activations imagery using tasks (golf putting). The experiment was conducted with 19 healthy adults. Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) used examine golf putting tasks. findings analysis on cerebral activation patterns based two distinct types indicate that posterior lobe, occipital limbic lobe exhibited activation, right hemisphere activated process imagery. temporal parietal were observed revealed elicited stronger frontal whereas resulted greater left lobe. It seems activates primary somatosensory cortex (BA 2), secondary 5 7), areas induces human sensibility. present investigation evinced network regions brain exhibit variability contingent category

EEG changes during sequences of visual and kinesthetic motor imagery.

The evoked cerebral electric response when sequences of complex motor imagery (MI) task are executed several times is still unclear. This work aims at investigating the existence of habituation in the cortical response, more specifically in the alpha band peak of parietal and occipital areas (10-20 international system electroencephalogram, EEG, protocol). The EEG signals were acquired during s...

A kinesthetic motor imagery study in patients with writer' cramp.

The aim was to determine if patients with writer' cramp (WC) have abnormalities in kinesthetic motor imagery of hand movements. We timed the execution and simulation of a 'finger tap task' and a 'writing task' in 9 patients with simple WC and 9 matched healthy controls. In the 'finger tap task, patients tended to be slower than controls to execute without vision (p=0.190) and to simulate the mo...

Brain activity during visual versus kinesthetic imagery: an fMRI study.

Although there is ample evidence that motor imagery activates similar cerebral regions to those solicited during actual movements, it is still unknown whether visual (VI) and kinesthetic imagery (KI) recruit comparable or distinct neural networks. The present study was thus designed to identify, through functional magnetic resonance imaging at 3.0 Tesla in 13 skilled imagers, the cerebral struc...

Walking while Performing Working Memory Tasks Changes the Prefrontal Cortex Hemodynamic Activations and Gait Kinematics

BACKGROUND Increasing evidence suggests that walking while performing a concurrent task negatively influences gait performance. However, it remains unclear how higher-level cognitive processes and coordination of limb movements are altered in challenging walking environments. This study investigated the influence of cognitive task complexity and walking road condition on the neutral correlates ...

Motor imagery beyond the motor repertoire: Activity in the primary visual cortex during kinesthetic motor imagery of difficult whole body movements

To elucidate the neural substrate associated with capabilities for kinesthetic motor imagery of difficult whole-body movements, we measured brain activity during a trial involving both kinesthetic motor imagery and action observation as well as during a trial with action observation alone. Brain activity was assessed with functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). Nineteen participants imagi...
