New insights into the phylogeny and evolution of Chinese Ovophis (Serpentes, Viperidae): Inferred from multilocus data

چکیده

Abstract The Asian pitviper genus Ovophis is a group of venomous snakes widely distributed in mid to high elevation mountains Asia, and presently five species are recognised. However, its systematics, diversity distribution boundaries remain poorly understood. We reconstructed the phylogenetic relationships explored Chinese based on two mitochondrial fragments (Cyt b ND4) four nuclear genes ( BACH1 , c‐mos Rag1 NT3 ) also conducted morphological comparison between focal species. Our results indicated that had been underestimated within we described population from southern Yunnan, China, as new taxon, naming it malhotrae sp . nov Based more extensive sampling, redefined O. monticola makazayazaya China. Divergence date estimation suggested originated at about 16.79 Ma middle Miocene.

Bayesian mixed models and the phylogeny of pitvipers (Viperidae: Serpentes).

The subfamily Crotalinae (pitvipers) contains over 190 species of venomous snakes distributed in both the Old and New World. We incorporated an extensive sampling of taxa (including 28 of 29 genera), and sequences of four mitochondrial gene fragments (2.3kb) per individual, to estimate the phylogeny of pitvipers based on maximum parsimony and Bayesian phylogenetic methods. Our Bayesian analyses...

Molecular phylogeny of the family Araceae as inferred from the nuclear ribosomal ITS data

The internal transcribed spacer regions of nuclear ribosomal DNA are widely used to infer phylogenetic relationships in plants. In this study, it was obtained the ITS sequences from 24 samples of Araceae in Iran, representing 3 genera: Arum L., Biarum Schott. and Eminium (Blume) Schott. Phylogenetic analyses were conducted by Bayesian inference and maximum Parsimony methods. Cladistic analysis ...

Historical biogeography of the Western Rattlesnake (Serpentes: viperidae: Crotalus viridis), inferred from mitochondrial DNA sequence information.

We infer the phylogeography of the Western Rattlesnake (Crotalus viridis) using phylogenetic analysis of mitochondrial DNA sequences from 1345 bp of the genes for cytochrome b and NADH dehydrogenase subunit 4. Two main clades are revealed: one includes populations from east and south of the Rocky Mountains (conventionally referred to as Crotalus viridis viridis and C. v. nuntius), and the other...

New insights into polychaete phylogeny (Annelida) inferred from 18S rDNA sequences.

Annelid systematics and the ingroup relationships of polychaete annelids are matter of ongoing debates in recent analyses. For the investigation of sedentary polychaete relationships a molecular phylogenetic analysis was conducted based on 94 sequences of 18S rDNA, including unpublished sequences of 13 polychaete species. The data set was analyzed with maximum parsimony and maximum likelihood m...

A six-gene phylogeny provides new insights into choanoflagellate evolution.

Recent studies have shown that molecular phylogenies of the choanoflagellates (Class Choanoflagellatea) are in disagreement with their traditional taxonomy, based on morphology, and that Choanoflagellatea requires considerable taxonomic revision. Furthermore, phylogenies suggest that the morphological and ecological evolution of the group is more complex than has previously been recognized. Her...
