New insights on the near-infrared veiling of young stars using CFHT/SPIRou data

Context. Veiling is ubiquitous at different wavelength ranges in classical T Tauri stars. However, the origin of veiling infrared (IR) domain not well understood present. The accretion spot alone enough to explain shallow photospheric IR lines accreting systems, suggesting that another source contributing near-infrared (NIR). inner disk often quoted as additional emitting meant veiling. Aims. In this work, we aim measure and discuss NIR understand its origins variability timescale. Methods. We used a sample 14 stars observed with CFHT/SPIRou spectrograph, within framework SPIRou Legacy Survey, along YJHK bands. compared measurements diagnostics. also analyzed circumstellar emission photometric observations from literature. Results. measured grows Y K band for most targets our sample. agrees excess obtained using data. find linear correlation between properties system, showing contributes heating and, consequently, excess. show connection system’s inclination respect line sight. This probably due reduction visible part edge, where expected arise, system increases. Our search periods on showed clearly periodic typical timescale stellar rotation – which, again, broadly consistent idea comes region. appears variable day, night-by-night dynamics optical variability. long term, mean seems be stable timescales month few years. during occasional episodes high stars, which affect dynamic, much more prominent such times, found case target RU Lup. Conclusions. provide further evidence sample, mainly occurs JHK bands arises dust disk.

A New System of Faint Near-Infrared Standard Stars

A new grid of 65 faint near-infrared standard stars is presented. They are spread around the sky, lie between 10th and 12th mag at K, and are measured to precisions better than 0.005 mag in the J, H, K and Ks bands; the latter is a medium-band modiied K.
