Newton's second law in field theory

چکیده

In this article we present a natural generalization of Newton's Second Law valid in field theory, i.e., when the parameterized curves are replaced by submanifolds higher dimension. For it introduce what have called geodesic k-vector field, analogous to ordinary and which describes inertial motions (i.e., evolution absence forces). From generalized law, corresponding Hamilton's canonical equations theory (Hamilton-De Donder-Weyl equations) obtained simple procedure. It is shown that solutions equation also hold equations. However, unlike case, Newton determined different forces can define equal

Using Globular Clusters to Test Newtons Law of Gravity

New measurements of the velocity dispersion of the globular cluster ω Centauri allow to trace its gravitational potential down to an acceleration of 8 × 10 cm s. It is found that the dispersion profile remains flat well inside the tidal radius as soon as the acceleration of gravity approaches a0, a result that finds its simplest explanation within the contest of MOND. A similar behavior is obse...

Second central extension in Galilean covariant field theory

The second central extension of the planar Galilei group has been alleged to have its origin in the spin variable. This idea is explored here by considering local Galilean covariant field theory for free fields of arbitrary spin. It is shown that such systems generally display only a trivial realization of the second central extension. While it is possible to realize any desired value of the ex...

Paré's law: the second law of toxicology.

There are three so-called laws that underlie the science of toxicology. Paracelsus is usually considered to be the father of toxicology, having formulated the first law, which states that the dose makes the poison. The second law concerns the specificity of toxic effects of individual chemicals, a specificity due to the unique chemical structure of the agent and the laws of biology that govern ...

I.D The Second Law

The historical development of thermodynamics follows the industrial revolution in the 19 century, and the advent of heat engines. It is interesting to see how such practical considerations as the efficiency of engines can lead to abstract ideas like entropy. An idealized heat engine works by taking in a certain amount of heat QH , from a heat source (for example a coal fire), converting a porti...
